Reasons why patients visit their chiropractor :

Neck Pain

This is a result from a variety of different reasons such as whiplash from an old car accident or other trauma, poor sitting or sleeping posture at work or at home and degeneration.  Symptoms range from sharp pain with neck movement, constant dull and achy pain  or burning pain that can refer to the shoulder.

Low Back Pain

This is a result of different forces or trauma from sports, work or sitting  compressing the vertebrae, discs, nerves and joints. Some of the symptoms include band-like-pain across the low back, localized sharp pain on one side of low back.  If a one sided leg pain or glute pain is present this could be indicative of nerve entrapment or joint or muscle referral pattern

Shoulder Pain

Most shoulder problems can be categorized into inflammation, arthritis, instability or fracture.  The shoulder joint is comprised of multiple joints that combine tendons and muscles to allow a wide range of motion in the arm.   This vast amount of mobility leads the shoulder vulnerable increasing problems with instability or impingement of the soft tissue or bony structures in your shoulder, resulting in pain. You may feel pain only when you move your shoulder, or all of the time. The pain may be temporary or it may continue and require medical diagnosis and treatment.

Arthritis

This is a degenerative condition involving inflammation of the joints being often swollen, hot and painful. Patients will see a decrease in joint range of motion and strength. Most people with this condition suffer from either osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis.

Tendonitis

This is a term used to describe inflammation of tendons which are the end portion of muscles that attach to a bone. Common tendonitis include "Tennis elbow" or "Golfers Elbow" (elbow)  rotator cuff tendonitis (shoulder)  Achilles tendonitis (heel).

Sprains and Strains

This is a result of a muscle (strain) or ligament (sprain) sustaining a stress greater than its capability and a tear of variable grades (1-3) happening as a result.  The ankle is a common joint to be affected for example while jumping playing basketball or volleyball and landing awkwardly.  The structures in this case to be affected are the Lateral Collateral Ligament (LCL) and Peroneal muscle group.  Symptoms include swelling, limping , bruising and deep pain.

Nerve Entrapment

This is a result of the nerve not moving properly with its surrounding structures. This can happen anywhere in the body.  Most commonly, you will hear terms "carpal tunnel syndrome", in the forearm or sciatica" in the low back.   Symptoms include sharp, throbbing or burning pain, numbness and tingling, or loss of muscle power and sensation.

TMJ Disorder (Temporomandibular Joint)

This is a result of a jaw joint dysfunction or facial muscle imbalance.  This can impact the neck and the nerves around the skull.   Some of the symptoms include headaches, pain when opening the mouth wide, talking too long and chew firm food.

Plantar Fasciitis

This is a result of cumulative/repetitive stress which causes inflammation of the thin layer of muscle along the bottom of your feet causing the plantar fascia to be inflamed. The most common site of inflammation is under the calcaneus (heel). If the inflammation is chronic, calcification of the soft tissue can develop into a heel spur.  A full biomechanical analysis will be needed in order to reduce the moderate to intense pain when you put weight on your feet.
